Nnamdi Asomugha's injury

Nnamdi Asomugha's injury - Asomugha’s status uncertain after knee injury, Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha(notes) was carted off the practice field Thursday with a knee injury.

"CB Nnamdi Asomugha has left practice with an apparent knee injury," the team wrote on its Twitter page. "He has been taken by cart into locker room."

The injury is the Asomugha's left knee, according to Sirius/XM Radio, but the severity wasn't immediately known. Coach Andy Reid wasn't made available to the media after practice.

Cornerback Joselio Hanson(notes), who would likely start if Asomugha is out Sunday, told The Philadelphia Enquirer he heard the injury was not serious.

"It looked bad, but they said he was going to be all right, expecting to come back (Friday) and practice," Hanson said.

With Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie(notes) missing last week's game with a high ankle sprain, the Eagles face the prospect of playing the Patriots on Sunday severely short-handed in the secondary.

If Asomugha and Rodgers-Cromartie are out, Hanson would start opposite Asante Samuel(notes) and likely kick inside in nickel packages with Brandon Hughes(notes) playing outside.
