Tennis Game and Racquet Evolution

As by history of any sport, it is hard exactly to say when was tennis invented. Most sources says that it was French monks in the 11th or 12th century who played something similar to todays tennis. To comparison to todays tennis, instead of racquets, they used they own hands. Later, it was wooden paddle, that was used. In 14th century, players had begun using racquets that are near to todays, built from strings made of gut bound in a wooden frame. Later, the the basic material for construction of racquets, became graphite. Since first usage of graphite, the new racquets are constructed to be lighter on weight. Producers are trying to use many new materials like ceramics, fiber or titanium, but the final products if always a composite with graphite.

Most people do not understand what it is 8 hours on marathon route. You have to run a marathon to understand it. Fauja Singh speaks only Panjabi, is vegetarian and lives in Great Britain. What is interesting is that word Fauja meanssoldier, so without a doubt, we will see him again.

5 Craziest Golfing Outfits Ever Worn to a Major Tournament

Perhaps no other professional sport allows its professional players to express themselves through their attire as golf. Sometimes this can lead to the occasional suave appearance but more often than not it is a disaster. Unlike most sports, uniforms are not enforced and this means some players have taken it upon themselves to stand out from the crowd.
Golf and fashion are two entities that you never expected to find accompanying one another, and as you can see from the fun and unique outfits below, they probably won’t, ever.

5 Reasons Why You Should Care about the NBA Lockout

The ongoing NBA lockout has so far resulted in the cancellation of a preseason and the first 100 games of the regular season. If an agreement is not reached between the players association and the owners, it is likely the NBA commissioner will be forced to cancel two more weeks of the regular season – about 102 additional games – setting the start date for the season at November 28th.
It’s easy to look at the lockout from the outside and look down on quibbling millionaires (or in some cases, billionaires). However, the lockout is about much more than the checks of a few hundred players. Here are five broader reasons why you should care:
Jobs
The NBA generates about $3 billion a year – that’s a lot of soft pretzels! Not all of it is players’ salaries, though. There is such a thing as “basketball related income”; in fact, that’s the actual reason why the NBA is locked out. This related income refers to the arenas and the vendors in those arenas, and as long as the NBA is locked out those places cannot function. CNN reported on the ways in which local shops and venues have already been affected.
Economic Impact
Hugely popular franchises like the Chicago Bulls pull in fans from both their franchise cities and surrounding areas. Chicago hotels that would normally accommodate these travelling fans stand to lose millions if the season doesn’t start soon. Earlier this year when the Bulls made the playoffs, that alone brought 30 million into the Chicago economy.
TV Revenue
Networks that broadcast NBA games stand to lose incredible amounts of ad revenue money – as much as $1.25 billion according to Adweek. That figure is based on the loss of an entire season, and though the sides can’t seem to agree on anything, it’s not likely that the entire season will be flushed away. Who wants to watch sports TV when there aren’t any sports on? Not willing to shed a tear for the networks? Without basketball to fill the schedule, you’ll be forced to watch terrible reruns of cancelled shows!
Cheerleaders

What will we do without the Luvabulls, Laker Girls, Pacemates and A-Town Dancers?
Increased Time
When the NFL lockout was happening earlier this year, there was a genuine concern about the safety of the nation. NFL star Ray Lewis put it this way:
“Do this research if we don’t have a season — watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up, if you take away our game. There’s too many people that live through us, people live through us. Yeah, walk in the streets, the way I walk the streets, and I’m not talking about the people you see all the time.”
An ongoing lockout will likely result in a rise in rampant and unchecked crime in the streets. So if you don’t want to get stuck for your paper in a dark alley, you better hope the season starts again. And quick.

Hilarious Goal Celebration!

If this video is anything to go by, goal celebrations have certainly come a long way since Roger Milla wiggled his hips down by the corner flag. Apparently a good ol’ slide or dance isn’t good enough anymore, this team literally choreographed a minute long goal celebration with Björnsson casting an imaginary fishing rod before ‘reeling in’ team-mate Daníel Laxdal. Damn kids in Iceland have nothing better to do.

This Weeks Top 5 Expected NFL Blowouts

With week six fast approaching, we take a look at the top 5 NFL blowout games we are likely to see on Sunday. If you’re getting ready to make your NFL picks this weekend, I would suggest you consider looking at one of these five games for an easy win. Just remember, if you lose, don’t hold me to it!

Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers

With Ben Roethlisberger back on the team and Cleveland quarterback Colt McCoy making his first NFL start, this is likely to be a lopsided battle. The spread is at 14 points and I would be surprised if the Steelers aren’t able to easily cover that. We’ll have to wait and see if Big Ben comes out of the gates a bit rusty or not, but there no doubt in my mind the Steelers D will be tormenting Cleveland’s young QB all day long. Steelers should have a big win here on Sunday.

San Diego Chargers vs St. Louis Rams

5 Most Significant Injuries Going Into the 2010 NFL Season

In no particular order, we take a look at the 5 most significant injuries NFL teams will face as they embark into the 2010 season. The past few weeks of pre-season football have definitely brought light to a few players who injuries leave their teams wondering how big of an impact they will have on the fast approaching season. Check out our picks for the top 5 most significant injuries of the 2010 NFL season:

Byron Leftwich, Pittsburgh Steelers

With Ben Roethlisberger guaranteed to miss the first 4 games of the season, the quarterback battle in Pittsburgh has been between veteran Byron Leftwich and Steelers fifth round pick in 2008, Dennis Dixon. Leftwich, now sidelined with a potentially serious knee injury after Thursday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, has give way Dennis Dixon starting off the season. Although Dixon has quite a pair of legs on him, his poor performance last week could spell trouble for Pittsburgh as they look to keep their heads above water until Big Ben returns in week 5.

Elvis Dumervil, Denver Broncos

Top 10 “Big Play” NFL Defensive Players

It’s no doubt that big defensive plays in the NFL can quickly change the complex of a game and help spark a team’s offense when they are struggling. In week 14, we saw a great example of this as the Pittsburgh Steelers went on to beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23 to 7. The Bengals took an early lead in the game to go up 7-0. With the Steelers offense unable to put any points on the board, Troy Polamalu broke the ice with a 45 yard interception return for a touchdown. This play single handedly changed the entire complexion of the game and put an end to any offensive hopes Carson Palmer and the Bengals had. This play was followed by another pick six on Carson Palmer by Pittsburgh’s LaMarr Woodley as well as a 2nd interception by Polamalu to seal the victory for the Steelers. We are likely to see more of the same from Polamalu in next week’s big match up against the AFC East New York Jets.

Troy Polamalu is certainly one of the most notably defensive players in the league today, but he isn’t the only one making these type of game changing plays. Lets take a look at the top 10 defensive players in the league who are known for their ability to make game changing plays that can alter anyNFL predictions you may have had.

3 Best Quarterback Options for the San Francisco 49ers

It’s been a rough decade for Niners fans. The San Francisco 49ers have not made it to the playoffs since 2002, back when Jeff Garcia was quarterback. It seems like every year the Niners will finally make a run for the playoffs, but the Niners have not managed to pull it together. The 2010 Seattle Seahawks were the first team in NFL history to make it to the playoffs with a losing record. With that being said, if the 49ers can post a winning record in 2011, they have a shot at making the playoffs.
The Niners made the right choice by firing head coach Mike Singletary after being eliminated in 2010, but the next key position that needs to be filled is quarterback. Both Troy Smith and Alex Smith are not the answers at the quarterback position, the best choice is to trade for a veteran or franchise quarterback. Let’s take a look at the 3 best quarterbacks the Niners should consider. As always, Superbowl Odds are provided by BetUS.

Donovan McNabb

Donovan McNabb is currently under contract with the Washington Redskins, but after his down year last season, there is a good chance the Redskins will release him to save money in the 2011 season. If he’s not released, the Niners will probably have to give up a fourth or fifth round pick, which is well worth it.
Some say McNabb has lost his step, but if he’s supported with a strong offensive cast, he could thrive in the familiar West Coast offense that Jim Harbaugh be implementing this off-season. Even the Niners players are excited to add Donovan McNabb to the roster. In an interview on the T.Ocho Show, tight end Vernon Davis says “Oh man – I’d love to catch some passes from Donovan McNabb.”

Kevin Kolb

Kevin Kolb of the Philadelphia Eagles has been a popular candidate for the Niners throughout this season. Just like McNabb, Kevin Kolb is familiar with the West Coast offense that will be established in the off season. At 26 years old, Kolb can be the franchise quarterback the Niners have been looking for.
Kevin Kolb’s track record in the NFL has been very limited, playing in the shadows of Michael Vick during the 2010 season. The lack of experience, and high price tag make this somewhat of a gamble for the Niners. It is rumored that the Eagles will ask for two first round picks in exchange for Kolb, which is absurb for a player that has proved nothing in the NFL.

Kyle Orton

Kyle Orton of the Denver Broncos is a cheaper alternative to Kevin Kolb. Orton is couple years older than Kolb at 28, with much more NFL experience, and a strong skill set. Although the Denver Broncos record suffered in 2010,  winning only 3 of 13 games when Orton was the quarterback. Orton’s numbers were strong throwing for over 3,600 yards and 20 touchdowns in just 13 games, posting a career-high 87.5 passer rating. Orton is a solid pocket passer, similar to Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, and not a huge threat on the run. This matches up perfectly with the West Coast offense that will be ready for the Niners 2011 season.
The biggest concern for the Niners is that Orton’s big numbers don’t translate to wins. Yes, he put up big numbers in the 2010 season, but his record as quarterback was 3-10. Also, rumors have said the Broncos are asking for a second-round pick in exchange for Orton, this is a high price tag for a Orton.
Whether the Niners pick up McNabb as a temporary solution, or Kolb as a franchise Quarterback, they need to make a move quick. McNabb is my #1 choice to take the Niners to the playoffs, and hopefully the Super Bowl in 2011.

5 of the Most Memorable Uppercuts in History

The old days of Sega Genesis Mortal Combat and Street Fighter uppercuts knocking the opponent into the screen above have slowly came to an end. The two games have created the game on newer consoles like the Wii, XBOX 360 and PS3 however they haven’t had a huge success as they did in the past with less gaming platforms were available. The games have been redone with better fatalities and even created a Mortal Combat VS DC Universe.
But, it is time to turn back to reality. The reality of waking up not knowing where you are, how you got there and wondering why people keep hovering over you in your face trying to ask first grade questions. There is a brief insight into what it feels like to wake up from being knocked out, here are some of the top uppercuts in boxing and MMA throughout history.

Favorite Training Splits for Men

Exercise is one of the most important parts of maintaining a good lifestyle. Not only will staying active keep you healthy, but it will also boost your confidence and physical appearance. However, developing a good physic requires that you work out all of the muscles in your body as well as maintaining a solid cardiovascular routine. While people opt to work out their entire body in one session, this can take all day and burn out your body. Instead, maximize your workout by creating a split routine. Split routines let you focus on individual muscles, which will not only save you time, but also allow for a fast recovery.
The first thing to consider when designing your split is how often you will workout. Some people go to the gym every day, while others will only go four times a week. Depending on the number of days you go, you may choose to do splits based on two-day cycles or splits based on three-day cycles. They key in planning your split routine is giving your muscles enough time to heal without neglecting your cardiovascular exercises.

Two-day Split

If you are planning a two-day split, it is likely you will be repeating it two or three times a week. Thus, a good split would involve working out your upper body one day and your lower body the next. For your upper body workout, you will want to exercise your chest, shoulders, biceps and triceps. On your lower body workouts, you will want to focus on your legs, back and core muscles (which include your abs).
After each workout, spend at least 15-30 minutes doing some type of cardio-based activity such as riding a bike, running on a treadmill or swimming. Cardio should always be done after weight lifting since your glucose is already burned, allowing you to start burning fat right away. After your two-day routine, take a day to rest. Rest is very important when it comes building muscle. If you want to go to the gym, don’t do any weight lifting; spend the entire session on cardio instead.

Three-day Split

With a three-day split, you will be able to focus more time on individual muscle groups. Thus, dividing the exercises for a three-day split should be based around muscle groups that work together. The first day should focus on your chest, shoulders and triceps. The second day should be spent working out your biceps and upper back. On the third day you should workout your legs, lower back and core muscles. Make sure you perform at least one cardiovascular exercise after each session. On the fourth day, rest all of your muscles. Your body will need to recharge.
As you get used to your splits, start making some adjustments to your routine to keep it from getting monotonous. Consider changing the weight, number of sets, number of reps or the tempo of your exercise. This will lead to stronger muscles. With cardio, the key is to maintain your target heart rate. This will help you eliminate fat efficiently.
Training splits are much more efficient than full body workouts. You will find yourself with more energy. However you don’t want to stay at the gym all day, so find a split routine that works well with your schedule. Focus your time on gradually building each muscle group while developing a good cardio routine. This is the key to getting the most out of exercise.

Blast From the Past

Mr. Olympia is the title given to the winner of the professional men’s bodybuilding portion of Joe Weider’s Olympia Weekend – an international bodybuilding competition that is held annually by the International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness (IFBB). Winning is considered to be the highest accolade in the sport of professional bodybuilding. I was always in sports, and I was kind of bodybuilding fan. But, in last 10-15 years this sport became gross – instead of praising human body and health, and trying to reach ideal proportions like those at Michelangelo’s David – this beautiful sport became a freak show. Just take a look at those pics that can be find on internet, these guys are scarry! So, we decided to show you some old-school bodybuilders, starting with first ever winner of the Mr. Olympia title in 1965 Larry Scott to 1984 incredible eight-time winner Lee Haney. After that, I have lose all my interest in Mr. Olympia competition, and I’m just thinking how far it will go.

Larry Scott – 1965-66

Scott displayed a physique with defined muscle shape in his biceps, triceps, shoulders and chest, which were all large, rounded and fully shaped. His upper arms measured over 20 inches and were, at the time, among the largest ever displayed at a professional bodybuilding competition. Scott subsequently retired after his 1966 victory.

Sergio Oliva – 1967-69

At 5 ft 10ins and 240 lbs in bodyweight, Oliva displayed a level of muscle mass and definition – including a “V” shape of a large, well-formed upper-body that tapered down to a narrow waist – unlike anything seen in prior competitions. Oliva would go on to win the Mr. Olympia competition in tree years in the row, and in 69′s final he defeat Arnold Schwarzenegger 4 to 3, marking Schwarzenegger’s first and only loss in a Mr. Olympia competition. And, his nickname was “Myth”, that’s enough.

NFL – Super Bowl

The National Football League (NFL) is the highest level of professional American football in the United States. The league currently consists of thirty-two teams. The league is divided evenly into two conferences — the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC), and each conference has four divisions that have four teams each, for a total of 16 teams in each conference. The regular season is a seventeen-week schedule during which each team plays sixteen games and has one bye week. The season starts on the Thursday night in the first full week of September and runs weekly to late December or early January. At the end of each regular season, six teams from each conference (at least one from each division) play in the NFL playoffs, a twelve-team single-elimination tournament that culminates with the championship game, known as the Super Bowl.
