Baltimore vs jacksonville

Baltimore vs jacksonville - The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Baltimore Ravens meet on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

While there was an ultimatum handed down before the season to Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Jack Del Rio to win now or be gone, it looks like barring an epic run, Del Rio will be gone as the Jags are 1-5 coming into this game. When Jacksonville spent their first round draft pick on QB Blaine Gabbert it was just a matter of time before he would be starting but after David Garrard was let go before the season the time came soon. Thus far Gabbert has completed just 48.8 percent of his passes for 717 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions while being sacked 14 times. Gabeert’s numbers aren’t helping take the opposing defenses focus on Maurice Jones-Drew who is still averaging 4.8 yards per carry and has scored two touchdowns on the ground.

Mike Thomas leads the Jaguars with 27 receptions and 301 receiving yards followed by Jason Hill with 11 catches and tight end Marcedes Lewis with 10 catches. The Jacksonville defense allows 325.3 yards per game while sacking opposing QB’s 11 times, recovering three fumbles, and intercepting six passes. Paul Posuluszny has 55 tackles, Daryl Smith has 44, and Dawan Landry has 36. Jacksonville plays hard every time out but with their minus three turnover margin, they just don’t have the roster to overcome it.

The clock is ticking on the Baltimore Ravens as they have been a contender for years but with the core of their team aging, the time frame and window to get back to the Super Bowl is closing fast. QB Joe Flacco has completed just 51.4 percent of his passes for 1278 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions.

Ray Rice is considered among the NFL’s elite running backs and he’s averaging 4.5 yards per carry for 398 yards while Ricky Williams is averaging 4.7 yards per carry. Anquan Boldin has 23 catches to lead the Ravens followed by Rice with 21 and tight end Ed Dickson with 18. The Baltimore defense is third best in the NFL in average yards allowed at 286.2 and they have 15 sacks, 10 fumble recoveries, and six interceptions. Ray Lewis is still one of the game’s best defenders with 42 tackles while Lardarius Webb has 34 and Cary Williams has 28 while Terrell Suggs has four sacks, Ed Reed is just a force, and Haloti Ngata is blowing up game plans on the line. Baltimore is plus five in turnovers this season and to remain competitive in the AFC North they will need to continue their sharp play.

Jacksonville is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, 1-5 against the spread in their last six games as a home underdog, and 2-7 against the spread on Monday Night Football. Baltimore is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as a road favorite, 15-6 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 5-1 against the spread on Monday Night Football. The home team is 4-0-1 against the spread in the last five meetings of these two.

The total in this one is hovering in the 39 to 40 point range and while we have seen plenty of unders this weekend I look for this one to go over as it is 12-5-1 in the last 18 meetings of these two. I will also have a pick on who will cover the spread and I’ll post it in the Premium Area.
